The Yankees best Frozen Ropes in shootout, 12-9

The Yankees and Frozen Ropes lit up the scoreboard on Tuesday as they combined for 21 runs. In the end, Yankees won the offensive battle 12-9 in seven innings.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 28 hits, including nine extra base hits.

The Yankees scored seven runs in the first inning to build an early lead.

 

Nanno Santorelli was hot from the plate for the Yankees. Santorelli went 3-5 and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

 

Even though Aidan Hughes allowed six runs over five innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out two, walked six and surrendered eight hits.

The top of the first saw Frozen Ropes take an early lead, 1-0. Reynoso kicked things off for Frozen Ropes with a single. A groundout by Pione then moved Reynoso from first to third. Brown singled, plating Reynoso.

Two runs in the top of the second helped Frozen Ropes close its deficit to 7-3. An error and a sacrifice fly by Cronin gave Frozen Ropes life. Hughes ended the inning by getting Brown to fly out.

The Yankees scored one run in each of the second, fourth and sixth. In the second, the Yankees scored on an RBI double by Griffen Dey, scoring Jonathon Cardona.

A one-run fourth inning helped bring Frozen Ropes within four. An RBI double by Pione sparked Frozen Ropes' rally. Finally, Hughes got Carpenter to strike out to end the threat.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the fifth, Frozen Ropes faced just a 9-6 deficit. A groundout by Lyman and a walk by Pione set off a Frozen Ropes rally. The Frozen Ropes threat came to an end when Hughes finally got Brown to strike out.

The Yankees answered Frozen Ropes' top inning with two runs of their own in the fifth. The Yankees scored on an RBI single by Mark Maguire and an RBI single by Cardona.

Three Frozen Ropes runs crossed the plate in the top half of the seventh, making the score 12-9. An RBI double by Cronin, an RBI double by Reynoso, and an RBI double by Brown gave Frozen Ropes life. Frozen Ropes' Swainstruck out to end the ballgame.
