Despite hit advantage, Yankees drops 5-4 game to NE Jays

The Yankees lost 5-4 in seven innings at Assumption College on Saturday, despite outhitting NE Jays seven to five.

 

Giovanni Dingcong put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Yankees. He doubled in the second inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

 

 

John Michelli brought the heat against NE Jays during his outing. NE Jays managed just one hit off of Michelli, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out five during his 4 1/3 innings of work.

 

Bennett recorded the win for NE Jays. He allowed three runs over three innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered three hits.

NE Jays was sparked by Geatile and Osfferg, who teamed up for two hits and three RBIs.

The Yankees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A single by Mark Maguire, bringing home Dingcong and Nanno Santorelli started the inning off.

The Yankees got one-run rallies in the second inning and the fifth. In the second, the Yankees scored on an RBI double by Dingcong, plating Chris Adames.

The game's last lead went to NE Jays thanks to a third inning rally that saw five runs cross the plate on an RBI double by Geatile, an error, an RBI single byRusso, and a two-run triple by Osfferg.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, the Yankees faced just a 5-4 deficit. An RBI single by Jonathon Cardona gave the Yankees life. Finally,#11 got Dylan Richards to ground out to end the threat.
