The Yankees drop 6-4 game to Mizuno 16u despite efforts of Maynard

Danny Maynard did all he could to give the Yankees a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Mizuno 16u, as the Yankees lost 6-4 in seven innings at Lubbock on Wednesday.

Maynard boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 1-1 day at the plate to pace the Yankees. He homered in the second inning.

Crain got the win for Mizuno 16u. He allowed three runs over three innings. Crain struck out three, walked three and gave up two hits.

The Yankees jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A single byNanno Santorelli, scoring Giovanni Dingcong started the inning off.

The game's last lead went to Mizuno 16u thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on two doubles.

After pushing across one run in the top of the second, the Yankees faced just a 4-2 deficit. A solo home run by Maynard gave the Yankees life. Santorelli flew out to end the Yankees threat.

Mizuno 16u answered the Yankees' top inning with one run of its own in the second. Mizuno 16u scored on a sacrifice fly by Dukes.

A one-run fourth inning helped bring the Yankees within two. An RBI single byDingcong set off the Yankees rally. Finally, #23 got Santorelli to strike out to end the threat.

It didn't take long for Mizuno 16u to answer as it scored one run of its own in the fourth. Mizuno 16u scored on an RBI single by Rheams.

One run in the top of the sixth helped the Yankees close their deficit to 6-4. A groundout by Caleb Kerbs fueled the Yankees' comeback. #14 ended the inning by getting Santorelli to strike out.
